The College Library was established in the year 1949. Adjoining with the administration block it is easily accessible to the students and the staff members. It was started with 2108 books and now it is comprised more than a number of 57795. It subscribes to various national periodicals, journals, magazines, newspapers, e-journals and database. The Library covers a huge area of 2179.6 sq. mts. It creates a new historical epoch and leaves an impression of the entire history of creation. Having the capacity of 200 seats  for readers it has been equipped with 12 Computer systems with Internet facility and 2 printers and most important Library Automation Software Koha to present a glance of the Library. The Library has access to e-resources provided by UGC-INFLIBNET through N-LIST programs. The digital section has around CDs/ DVDs. The library also has a Xerox machine. ICT and other Tools

  • Electronic Resource Management package for e-journals: INFLIBNET (N-LIST) Programme provides access to 6500 e-journals and 32 Lakhs e-Books.
  • Federated searching tools to search articles in multiple databases: Being a registered member of INFLIBNET /N-LIST Programme, students and teachers search articles from EBSCO-Host database that provides access to articles via federated searching.
  • Library automation: Library is using Library Automation Software for issue and return of books.
  • Total number of computers for public access: 12
  • Reprography service.

Institutional Repository

  • Newspaper coverage of college news of seminars, workshops and other functions conducted by the institution is maintained and available in the library.
  • Photocopies of articles for various competitions such as essay writing competitions, declamations etc. are maintained.
  • College prospectus and college magazines are available in the library.

Library Circulation Policy
Text books are issued for the whole session to meritorious and needy students. Distinct facility is provided to the students during examination days. They are allowed to get extra books issued till the period of examination. Books to readers are issued for the duration of 14 days and if needed extra time is granted on the renewal basis. Library also provides Short Message Service (SMS) to Issue/Return/Renew alert of the book/books. Full Assistance is provided by the library assistants to Physically Challenged persons in college Library. Library staff helps physically challenged students to find books required by them.

Web OPAC
Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) is the representation of the library’s collection of learning resources. Library provides round-the-clock Web OPAC facility to the faculty and students of the institute through Koha Library software. All the students are registered on software with the help of barcode on smart cards of students.  Smart ID cards with barcode are issued to the students which enables them to get the books issued and return the same online.  All the records are maintained in the computer.

Borrowing Facility

Rare Books Section: Vedic literature and collections of old Urdu, Palli, Sanskrit, Punjabi and Persian are available.

Information deployment and notification: Notices regarding library services such as circulation policy, no dues, refund of security and new arrivals are displayed on Notice Board from time to time.

Download: E-resources from open databases and subscribed databases are allowed to be downloaded from internet. Internet is available on a network of twelve computers

In-house/remote access to e-resources: In-house/ remote access to resources is available through password provided by INFLIBNET/NLIST programme.

Assistance in searching Books/Journals: The library staff is always available for any need based assistance in the use of library services.

Library staff provides required support to students and teaching staff in finding reading material from books, journals, magazines and periodicals as well as from e-books and e-journals. RULES OF LIBRARY

  • Users have to deposit their personal belongings at the Property Counter near the entrance.
  • Demand slip are mandatory one day before the issue the books.
  • Users, before leaving the counter must satisfy themselves as to whether the books, which they intend to borrow, are in good condition and any damage/marking should be immediately reported to the Librarian failing which the member to whom the book was issued will be held responsible.
  • Two renewals will be permitted if there are no reservations against these books. For renewal, books have to be presented physically at the library counter.
  • Users are advised to return/renew the books on or before due date marked on the book.
  • Absence will not be accepted as an excuse for the delay in the return of books.
  • A borrowed book should be returned on the due date, failing which a penalty of Rs.1/- will be collected as overdue charge per day.
  • Loss of books, if any, should be reported to the library immediately and it should be replaced with a new copy along with a levy of overdue charges if any.
  • In case the borrower is unable to replace the books that are lost, he will be levied a penalty two times the cost of the book plus overdue charges, if any.
  • Any marking or writing inside the books by the members is strictly prohibited. If any damage/marking is found, the member should replace the book.
  • Books that are in special demand shall be lent for shorter periods as may be necessary and Books lent out may be recalled at any time, if required.
  • Books other than reference books will be issued to student members for a period of 15 days only. For teachers, the loan period is one full semester.
  • Encyclopedias, Reference Books, Hand Books, Dictionaries, Periodicals and Back Volumes will not be issued and they are only for Reference.
  • Members are responsible for all the books borrowed on their cards.
  • Newspapers and magazine are not allowed outside the Library.
  • Misbehavior in the library will lead to cancellation of membership and also lead to serious disciplinary action.
  • Duplicate ID cards will be issued by the College on payment of Rs.100/- (Rupees One hundred only)
  • Loss of ID cards should be reported immediately to the College Library and ID Number has to be blocked to avoid misuse of the card
  • All final year student members should get “No Dues Certificate” from the College Library.
  • Using of Cell Phones inside the library is prohibited. Silence should be observed strictly inside the library

Library has a very flexible working schedule throughout the year. It opens before the institutions opening time and closes after the closing time so that readers have an opportunity to use the library without disturbance to their academic schedules.
